There are three main types of showers;
Electric Showers
Electric showers are fed cold water and heat the water in the shower unit.
There is an internal element, similar to a kettle or boiler, that heats the water on demand.
Great for houses with many occupants, that may otherwise run out of hot water.
Thermostatic/mixer showers
Mixer showers, or thermostatic showers, are the simplest and most straightforward type of shower.
They don't require electricity, as they only mix hot and cold water, and don't heat the water or increase pressure.
These types of showers are great when you have enough hot water on demand for your household, and the pressure is good.
It is worth noting though that you can buy and install a shower pump to increase water pressure when needed.
Power showers
Unlike electric showers, that heat water on demand, a power shower increases water pressure on demand.
The shower unit houses a small pump that boosts the water pressure to the shower.
This is great in situations where the gravity-fed system struggles to deliver the desire water pressure.
