Whirlygig Clothes Pole Installation

One of the most common jobs we do is wirlygig clothespole and clothesline installations.

A handyman can also perform simple repairs to either type of clothesline, whether it’s a rotary or wall-mounted type.

They can replace the clothesline wire or rope, fix damaged wall-mounted brackets or transfer a rotary clothesline to a new spot if its current anchor has weakened and caused it to become misaligned.

Air drying your clothes on a clothesline saves energy, is better for the environment and better for your clothes.

Make sure you've got enough space to hang all your laundry with a fold-down or rotary clothesline that fits your space.

You may know how to install clothesline wire and posts yourself, but professional installation can avoid problems further down the line – and it's essential if you want to install a clothesline in cement or against a wall or fence.

The first thing that it is important to know before using a rotary washing line is the general functions of your specific device you have.

All designs are similar; however, we advise you to read the information included in the manual when you first receive your rotary washing line.

There are also a couple of things you should consider ensuring that your rotary washing line is safe and does not cause harm to yourself or anyone in its vicinity.

Proper installation is a must to ensure that the rotary washing line has a solid base allowing the spike or pole to stay perfectly vertical and not lean or fall over.

If your rotary clothes pole is leaning or moving due to the wind, then it is best to remove your washing line and lay it flat until you can re-install in properly.

Can you install a clothesline on a fence or wall?

You should check when you buy your clothesline whether it can be installed on the type of wall or fence you have.

Some clotheslines may not be installed on a Hebel or weatherboard wall, as they don't offer enough support.

Your local council may also restrict clothesline installation on a fence.

What size of clothesline do you need?

When choosing a clothesline, you should consider how much laundry you need to dry and how much space you have outside.

A rotary clothesline can be ideal for a large family that needs plenty of space for clothes, while a fold-down clothesline can be a great space-saver in smaller gardens.

Do you need a custom clothesline?

If your clothesline needs to fit into a narrow space, your installer may be able to cut it down to the size you need. Some companies offer custom clotheslines that can be designed to your specifications, sometimes at no extra cost

How high should a clothesline be installed?

The standard height of a clothesline installation is 1.8 metres from ground level, but you can tell the installer if you would prefer it higher or lower. If your clothesline is being wall mounted, it's recommended that the brackets are attached 50mm higher than the person who will mainly be using it

Will my old clothesline be removed?

If you have an existing clothesline, most installers will take down and dispose of this for you, but this may cost extra. This does not normally include removing a concrete base. If this service is not offered, you will have to dispose of the clothesline yourself.

How much does clothesline installation cost?

The cost of installation will depend on where your clothesline is being installed and any other services you need, such as drilling or rock breaking.

In extreme weather, rotary washing poles can become damaged even if they are installed correctly.

To minimise the risk of damage it is best to fold up your rotary washing line whenever it is not being used.

This provides more protection against the elements as well as taking up less space.

If your rotary washing line is damaged, make sure that you repair it before you use it next.

Finally, a rotary washing line should be used for the sole purpose of hanging wet washing in order to dry it.

To ensure the life of your rotary washing line please refrain from hanging other things from it as this may cause damage.

It is important as well to advise children not to swing from a rotary clothes line if they are playing in the surrounding area as this can cause harm to themselves as well as damage the device.

What does Clothesline Installation & Repair services include?

Clothesline Installation and repair services include installing common clotheslines, such as the rotary clothesline and wall-mounted clothesline.

For rotary clotheslines, this includes digging a hole in your outdoor space to anchor it, positioning the clothesline and filling the gap with concrete. After the rotary clothesline is installed and the concrete has dried, the clothesline head is put in place.

As for the wall-mounted type, this includes positioning and bolting the wall brackets onto an exterior wall and threading the clothesline wires.

Note that you must supply the clothesline and a bag of concrete, gravel, digging tools and water when having a rotary clothesline installed.
